No Distant Lands
Year: c. 1941
Artist: Unknown
Image credit: Swann Auction Galleries (via Invaluable)
From Swann: "A rare image from the height of the pre-war global aviation juggernaut that was Pan Am. A mighty clipper is shown soaring over a globe (positioned to highlight North America), while small icons of planes radiate off the central image to illustrate the number of flights to each of Pan Am's destinations. The poster has been dated using Pan Am timetables from mid-1940, in which the New Zealand route is finally shown in operation (as opposed to just listed as "scheduled")."
